Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 9, 2026

Colorful Recipes ("we", "us", "our") runs colorfulrecipes.com. We respect your privacy and keep data collection to a minimum: we collect only what we need to run the site, answer your messages and send the emails you ask for. We never sell or rent your personal information.

If you have any questions, email us at mycolorfulrecipes@gmail.com.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) automatically processes basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request, to deliver the site securely and prevent abuse. We don't use this to identify you.
  • Saved recipes and grocery list ("My Cookbook"). These are stored only in your own browser (local storage) on your device. They never leave your device and we can't see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
  • Cookies. We use analytics cookies from Google Analytics (see below). We don't use advertising cookies. Your saved recipes, grocery list and cookie choice are kept in your browser's local storage, not in cookies we can read.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (which recipes are popular, how people find us, and which features help), so we can make more of what you love.

  • What it collects: pages you visit, how you got here (for example from Google or Pinterest), general device and browser information, approximate location (city or country, derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), and actions on the site such as saving a recipe, using Cook Mode, sharing, searching, signing up for the newsletter or posting a comment. We never send your name or email address to Google Analytics.
  • Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> to tell visits apart.
  • No advertising use: Google Signals and ad personalization are turned off, and advertising storage is always denied. We don't sell or share this data for advertising.
  • Your choice:
    • Visitors in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a cookie notice, and analytics stays off unless you click Accept.
    • Everyone else can turn analytics off at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
    • You can also use Google's browser opt-out add-on.
  • Retention: analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention setting, at most 14 months.

Who processes your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, database and email-sending functions). Newsletter signups, comments and contact messages are stored in our Google Cloud Firestore database in the United States.
  • Kit (kit.com, based in the United States) to send the newsletter. When you sign up, we share your email address, first name (if you gave one), and the topics and frequency you picked with Kit so it can deliver the emails you asked for. Kit also records whether newsletter emails are delivered and opened. See Kit's privacy policy.
  • Google Gmail to send you notification or reply emails from mycolorfulrecipes@gmail.com.
  • Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics, as described above.

When you click a link to another site (such as Amazon, Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook), that site's own privacy policy applies. Amazon may set cookies when you click one of our affiliate links. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our site and visitors.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When you unsubscribe, we keep only a record that you unsubscribed so we never email you again by mistake.
  • Comments: published comments stay on the recipe page until removed. Comments we don't approve (including spam) are deleted periodically.
  • Contact messages: as long as needed to handle your request, and no longer than 2 years.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you,
  • correct it,
  • delete it (including removing a comment or your newsletter subscription),
  • stop sending you emails (every newsletter email will include an unsubscribe link).

Email mycolorfulrecipes@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Visitors in the EU/EEA and UK (GDPR): we process your information based on your consent (newsletter, comments, and analytics cookies) and our legitimate interest in running and securing the site and answering your messages. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Your information is stored in the United States by Google, which provides safeguards for international transfers.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we collect the categories of information described above for the purposes described above. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Our database only accepts properly formatted submissions, can't be read publicly, and is accessible only to the site owner. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We'll post any changes on this page and update the effective date above. If we make significant changes (for example, adding advertising), we'll note them clearly here.
