About Colorful Recipes

Hi, I'm Christine. Welcome to my colorful kitchen.

I started this site in 2012 to keep a record of the colorful, nourishing food I cook for my family. Today it's a home for high-protein, lower-calorie recipes and energy-boost breakfast bowls that make eating well feel like a treat, not a chore.

What we believe

  • Real food, real life. Simple ingredients and recipes that work on a busy weeknight.
  • Protein keeps you going. We build meals that keep you full, fueled and energized.
  • Healthy should taste like a treat. Flavor first, always. Smart swaps second.
  • Your time matters. Recipe first, story second, zero clutter.

My story

Hello, fellow food lover! Welcome to my blog.

My name is Christine, the yummy creator and Chief Food Officer 🙂 of colorfulrecipes.com, where I share colorful, healthy recipes for real families.

I originally started this blog in 2012 with the goal of packing as much color and nutritional value into my dishes as possible. The idea was to create an everlasting record of colorful and healthy recipes for my growing family to enjoy later.

Then my husband and I had our little bundle of joy. We named him Roy. Talk about love at first sight! Who knew you could love so much after going through so much pain? There were tears of joy, endless smiles and giddy laughter from exhaustion and relief that all went well. I remember thinking, if I am capable of doing THAT, I can certainly do ANYTHING!

Until we went home and I didn’t sleep for another 5 months… 😛 That little cutie patootie came along and changed everything!

Needless to say, I had little downtime, especially after going back to work full time, so the blog was kind of pushed aside… or, more like, stopped happening.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I can’t believe our little Roy is a toddler now. Running around and TALKING and being silly? What is this nonsense?! He was JUST a little baby. How did this happen? Now he’s sophisticated, picks out his own shoes, fist-bumps us and uses our smartphones like it’s nobody’s business.

They sure do grow up fast! I realized I’d better get back to colorfulrecipes.com before he outgrows me.

It feels so good to be back! I’m so excited to start sharing again while continuously learning, growing and creating new recipes along the way, especially as my little man’s taste buds mature.

Please join me on my quest, and here’s to eating better one color at a time!

Much ❤️, Christine
