Are those chickpeas, smothered in extra virgin olive oil, laying beautifully on a silky bed in a bowl of this 5 Minute Creamy Hummus?!? Because I know you want in on this deliciousness.
So I was born in a small city named Jounieh in the small country of Lebanon. As a child, while my later American friends were running around the sprinklers in their front yards, I collected cones in a mountain pine forest. As a family, instead of barbecuing in a backyard, we regularly had meals on our balcony as we gazed at its glittering view of the Mediterranean Sea. And with every single meal came mezza → a never ending spread of small appetizer plates which preceded the main meal. And in said mezza → HUMMUS was involved, people!
And it’s funny now looking back at those younger years. I moved to the United States at a young age so I was lucky to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. But, I still remember my excitement when I learned we were moving to the United States.
The movies I had seen portrayed a dreamy place where; I would play in endless fields of the greenest grass, walk on perfect sidewalks through beautifully landscaped neighborhoods, a cute blue eyed boy would deliver our Sunday newspaper while riding his bike but most importantly I would run in slow motion on beaches like a Baywatch babe. 😛
I definitely didn’t realize back then that I would eventually be reminiscing the following view of Jounieh like crazy. I also had a skewed perception of how far those California beaches actually were. I didn’t know that I wouldn’t be running on them as soon as I had anticipated or as fabulously as I had imagined. 😀
Moral of my long story: Sometimes, you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory. That’s why it’s sooo important to savor every moment. You just neva-know → one day you might b-slap that big forehead of yours for taking a particular moment for granted! Or at least that’s what I did. 🙂
Back to hummus! What is hummus? It consist of fiber and protein rich chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, and tahini which is a paste made of sesame seeds. All blended with garlic and lemon juice to a creamy and addicting Mediterranean flavored consistency.
Though using dry chickpeas will produce the real deal, this 5 minute shortcut version will do on them busy days. This recipe is sooo simple and tasty, you’ll think twice before grabbing one of those store-bought additive and sodium filled containers. Just don’t forget to savor every moment! 😉
A few dips in then you just might start singing ‘all about that paste’! Have you heard this song!? Check it out 😀
Because you know, I’m all about that paste, ’bout that paste that hummus
It’s got tahini, an Arab-like taste, and all the right oil in all the right places – GoRemy

Okay, I have to be honest — I’m Asian and we aren’t particularly into consuming Hummus but it would be interesting to try out some new food right? It looks yummy and definitely loaded with lots of protein! You definitely did make a point there, Christine. We have to savor every moment indeed. 🙂
